Garba/Raas Troupe at NYU
Garba/Raas at NYU is a coalition of
students dedicated to representing, celebrating, and promoting the
Indian Gujarati culture through a dance specific to the region. The
organization focuses on the traditional folk dances of Gujarat, India,
while spreading knowledge through the historical and religious
implications of Garba and Raas - two of the most well known dance forms
in India. The organization extends its knowledge of this art form
throughout the entire NYU community to aide in its acceptance and
participation of South Asian culture.
